Is my switchboard actually unsafe, or is it fine?
If it's older than about 25 years, has ceramic fuses instead of breakers, or trips for no obvious reason, it's worth a look. We'll come out, check it over, and tell you honestly whether it needs upgrading or it's fine for now. No scare tactics.
What's an RCD and do I need one?
An RCD is the bit that saves a life. It cuts the power in a fraction of a second when something goes wrong, before it can hurt you. Old boards often don't have them. A modern board puts that protection on every circuit.
How long is the power off for?
Usually a few hours for a board change. We plan it so it's off for as little time as possible, and we'll tell you what to expect before the day so you can work around it.
Do I get certification?
Yes. Every board is tested, signed off, and you get the paperwork. It matters for insurance, for landlords, and when you sell the house. We don't leave until it's right and the certificate's in your hand.
