When do you need to be involved, before or after the build?

Before. The strip runs, the zones and the switching all get planned before the walls close. Bring us in early, with your builder or designer, and nothing ends up an afterthought chased through finished gib.

Will the smart system be a pain to use?

No. We set it up around how you live, scenes for cooking, dinner, movie night, away, so it makes sense without a manual. If it's not simple to live with, it's not done.

Why not just buy the fittings and get a standard install?

You can, and for plain lighting that's fine. Feature lighting is about the detail: hidden drivers, flicker-free dimming, fittings centred to the millimetre. That's the bit that separates premium from a pendant hung roughly over the bench.
